Super Secret Makeup Hacks

Happiness is new makeup, period. I mean who doesn’t like those long romantic walks down the makeup aisles and to the makeup counters? Now it can be that much sweeter when you learn these tips and tricks on how to save your time and money on your oh so favorite things and at your favorite places.
1. Smashbox Primers – One of my all time favorite lines of primers. They range in price for a 1oz tube from $39-$36 depending on what type you get. However, did you know that they come in .5oz travel sizes in ALL VARIETIES priced at $16. By buying 2 travel sized bottles to equal the same amount of product in one normal sized bottle, you save between $7-$4.
2. Tarte BB Cream – This is an awesome BB cream because it also contains an anti aging treatment for your skin. The full sized bottle is 1oz and priced at $36 however, the travel sized bottle is .5oz and priced at $14. If you buy two travel sized bottles to equal one regular size bottle, you save $8.
3. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Face Wash – One of my favorite face washes because it is a cleanser, exfoliator, and hydrator all in one. This is offered in three sizes however, in this case, the bigger bottle is the best deal. The 8oz bottle is $24 which is $3 an oz. The 16oz is $36 which is $2.25 an oz. And for the best deal, the 24oz at $44 because it equals $1.83 an oz.
4. JCPenny Gift Cards – Did you know that there are Sephora Stores inside JCPenny stores and that you can buy discounted JCPenny Gift Cards up to 20% off and use in all Sephora stores and at jcpenny.com? You still get your free samples with each purchase as well as points added toward your Beauty Insider Account (their free rewards program).
5. Making Returns – Ulta and Sephora both have the best return policies. Don’t believe me? It’s on the back of every receipt which states that items can be returned within 60 days of purchase and containing at least 60% of the product. That’s right, if you use it and don’t like it, you can return it. ***However, I HIGHLY recommend to NOT be that person who comes in with 50-60% of the bottle empty or more and still demand a return. Stay classy ladies!***
6. Target – Did you know that most Targets now have an on staff Makeup Artist and Skincare Advisor? That’s right and you don’t have to hunt her down because she stays in the Cosmetics department. Seeing how most pharmacy brands of makeup like Revlon, Loreal, and Elf don’t have testers, it can be hard finding the right foundation shade or loose powder. Fear no more because that is where the Target Artist helps you. And like Sephora and Ulta, Target is also wonderful when it comes to Returns if you are not satisfied.
7. Sale Items – Sale items in Sephora and Ulta are usually found in two or sometimes more locations of the store. Ask an associate to better direct you. In Ulta there are usually two locations, one for Prestige and Higher End items and one for Pharmacy Brands. Some brands create seasonal packaging for their products however, once out of season they are marked down. For instance, Bed Head Masterpiece Shine Hairspray retails for $23 a bottle however, once a year, they make a seasonal pink bottle to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Once marked down, it’s $3 a bottle. You save $20!!!
8. Eye Shadow Pallets – One of my biggest pet peeves is when I try to offer someone an eyeshadow pallet and they complain about how they only like “certain” colors and won’t use the rest. Well here’s the thing, when it comes to high end makeup lines, you save money on buying the pallets over individual colors so it doesn’t matter if you don’t use them all because your wallet will thank you. For instance, Urban decay’s Naked Palettes are $54 which include 12 shades. Urban Decay’s individual eye shadows are $19 each and if you make your own 4 piece pallet it’s another $10 for the container making 4 colors cost you $86. You save $32 and get 8 more colors for less money.
Mind blowing right?!?! Message me or comment below if you have your own makeup questions or have found other ways to save. xoxo ~B~
